Camping

Dear Diary,

Today’s entry is brought to you by the letter ‘C’ is that opening getting old? Good thing there are only 26 letters in the alphabet. My topic or word for the letter C is camping because it is one of my favorite activities. The only negative thing about camping is the actual sleeping part, the hard ground and cold nights. I love hiking or rafting during the day, building a campfire, cooking over a camp fire, the dark sky full of twinkling stars that somehow seem brighter when camping. I love waking up to birds chirping and chipmunks chattering. I love reading until the rest of the world wakes up. I love walking to the bathrooms with flashlights and talking late into the night. Family camping trips are some of my earliest memories from childhood, and some of my happiest memories from high school, and some of my fondest memories of outings with SO. I hope that camping will always be one of my favorite activities.

Until next time,
Me

  1. I LOVE Camping. A tent, some pads, a sleeping bag. I dont consider RVs camping, just mobile hotels/homes.

My favorite place is Yosemite. Love the hikes, the outdoors. It's been a few years since I have been camping. Your post makes me want to hose off my musty tent and get my hiking boots....

  2. When I was a kid we would always go to the same campgrounds every year; they were near Yosemite (but not in the park). 2 weeks at Sweet water (it was free, but had a 2 week limit) then a week at Wagners (it wasn't free but it had a rope swing under the bridge) then back to Sweet Water for another 2 weeks. I agree RVing is not camping, camping involves a tent or sometimes just under the stars.

  3. Love camping. I took my husband camping for the first time in his life when he was 40 and since then, we go all the time.

  4. @ Vanessa, Your husband did not camp for the first 40 years of his life!?! Oh the childhood memories, the trip to the bathroom with a flashlight is not at all the same experience as an adult. When you're a kid it's an exciting adventure with possible danger around ever tree, or maybe that's just because my older sibling told me there were bears and mountain lions waiting in the darkness.
